The Greer Group is recruiting a Digital Literacy Navigator for our client in Raleigh. This is a long-term temporary position for 1 year, with the possibility to be further extended. Hours are Monday –Friday, 8: 00 AM –5: 00 PM in office.
The Digital Literacy Navigator will help coordinate, design and deliver programs and services to ensure underserved populations have opportunities to increase digital literacy skills necessary for participation in the modern digital space, especially as related to education, lifelong learning and career opportunities.
Partner with Assistant Library Director, library staff and managers in the development and implementation of plans to meet community digital literacy needs.
Partner with Library IT and Library Staff in the device loan project that is in progress to assure that library patrons with a need or interest in borrowing devices have access to the skills and resources needed to use them effectively.
Partner with Library Managers in digital literacy and skill-building initiatives, researching potential community partnerships and resources that might present opportunities for in-person and/or online training programs.
Comfortable with travel among library locations in the county.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in education, nonprofit management, or a related field.
Strongly prefer 1-2 years of experience in a library, school or similar setting in a position with a focus on digital access, literacy, technology instruction, or community engagement.
Strong organizational and communication skills.
Skills with community engagement and working with diverse populations.
Skill in conveying basic to intermediate digital literacy skills (Skills for using Chrome OS; PC skills for using Windows; use of tablets, phones and mobile devices; etc.) to individuals with little to no knowledge of the skills being taught.
