The Greer Group is seeking a Food Service Director located in the North Asheville area, to lead and oversee all aspects of dining services. This role is ideal for an experienced food service professional who is passionate about quality, nutrition, and creating an excellent dining experience. HOURS: Monday - Friday, some weekends. 8: 00 am - 5: 00 pm but hours can varyPAY: Starting at 60K - negotiable depending on experience WHAT YOU'LL DO: As the Food Service Director, you will:
Manage day-to-day operations of the kitchen and dining services within budget.
Supervise food preparation to ensure meals are nutritious, flavorful, and visually appealing.
Oversee menu adherence, meal schedules, substitutions, and portion control.
Ensure all food is prepared and served safely, meeting federal, state, and local standards.
Order food and supplies from approved sources efficiently and economically.
Maintain compliance with dining regulations, sanitation, and safety standards.
Hire, train, and supervise food service staff to deliver high-quality service.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support resident care plans.
Conduct staff training on food prep, diets, safety procedures, and sanitation.
Monitor cleanliness, pest control, equipment use, and storage practices.
Provide flexibility and leadership to adapt to evolving needs.
What We’re Looking For
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or completion of dietary manager course with certification exam eligibility.
ServSafe Certification with strong knowledge of food handling and safety regulations.
Experience in healthcare dining, fine dining, and special function meal service.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
Knowledge of labor laws, licensure requirements, and relevant computer programs.
Physically able to perform kitchen duties (standing, walking, lifting, etc.).
Ability to work weekends and holidays as needed.
Integrity, flexibility, and ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, families, and visitors.
