The Greer Group, Inc is seeking a Litigation Paralegal to join our Legal client in Winston Salem, NC. This position entails of providing key legal support to a group of 5-6 attorneys in its litigation practice. This is a full-time on-premises role. Great opportunity for growth! Monday-Friday, 8: 30am-5: 00pm. Pay: $34.00-$38.00/Hour dependent upon experience. Job Details:
Provide essential legal practice and administrative support to attorneys
•Draft, format, edit and proofread legal documents;prepare and submit documents for filing to federal, state, and appellate courts via CM/ECF and eCourts platforms;ensure timely and correct service is executed for all filed documents in accordance with applicable local rules
Maintain organized electronic and/or physical case files, ensuring accurate recordkeeping of documents;establish and maintain calendar and deadline reminder systems as needed
Professionally communicate with internal team, clients, outside counsel, experts, witnesses, and court personnel in person, by email, and by telephone, ensuring confidentiality when appropriate
Familiarity with The Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure;ability to read and understand local rules of court
Assist attorneys in preparing for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials, including creating and/or producing exhibits, trial notebooks, etc.;prepare and coordinate service of subpoenas;assist in discovery process;undertake legal research as directed
Assist with seminar registrations and travel arrangements for attorneys as needed;coordinate attorney attendance for CLE, both locally and out-of-town, as requested
Answer incoming telephone calls for attorneys as needed;route incoming mail and deliveries;prepare outgoing mail via USPS, FedEx, or UPS;travel to local courthouses, FedEx, USPS, and other businesses as needed for document pickups and deliveries.
Perform all other reasonable and customary legal support tasks as assigned by attorneys or firm administrator.
Job Requirements
A minimum of five years of paralegal experience required, with preference given to candidates with relevant commercial bankruptcy or civil litigation experience
Bachelor’s degree preferred; Associate degree plus commensurate experience accepted
North Carolina Notary Public, preferred or willing to obtain
Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to actively listen, communicate clearly, and pay close attention to detail
Above-average technical skills with MS Office (particularly Outlook and Excel) and Adobe PDF
Ability to prioritize tasks and balance multiple projects simultaneously and take ownership of all projects through completion
Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate in person, by e-mail, and by telephone and follow instructions effectively from a diverse group of attorneys and staff to work as a cohesive team
